Doctrine #2: There is Only ONE True God

But for us, There is one God, the Father, by whom all things were created, and for whom we live. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created, and through whom we live. [1 Corinthians 8:6]

Sound Doctrine Is the Solid Foundation.

Because bad doctrine corrupts, sound doctrine is what we all want to obtain and keep. I am investing time in this series because it holds great significance for your life. It could be the determining factor between life and death. The importance of sound doctrine cannot be overstated. The devil has infiltrated the thoughts of believers, churches, pastors, and teachers, rendering the Word ineffective for some. There is a watering down of the Word to where it no longer has power.  Sound doctrine serves as the unwavering solid foundation, to which we base everything else on.

BENEFITS OF SOUND DOCTRINE

  1. Sound doctrine will keep you from falling away from the faith.
  2. Sound doctrine will prevent you from being deceived.
  3. Sound doctrine will help you from going insane in this crazy world.
  4. Sound doctrine will help you to STAND FIRM.

Throughout the remaining weeks of December 2023, we will be walking through the 16 Foundational (Fundamental) Bible Doctrines. Let’s dive into Doctrine #2.

DOCTRINE #2: ONE TRUE GOD

There is a theory that you can serve whatever god you choose to be your god. Well, this too may ruffle feathers, if the Word is the first foundation, then there is only ONE GOD.

Recently I had someone ask, what if someone never hears about God, can they go to heaven? Well, the Word tells us that everyone will hear. The problem is many people don’t want to hear or listen to the truth. The truth being these foundational doctrines. Sadly, the doctrine in most churches today resembles 2 Timothy 4:3. How incredibly accurate the Word is based on prophecy over 2000 years ago.

For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. [2 Timothy 4:3]

  • God has revealed himself as Self-existent – I AM
  • God is the God of Isaac, Jacob, and Abraham.

God replied to Moses, I AM WHO I AM. Say this to the people of Israel: I AM has sent me to you. God also said to Moses, say this to the people of Israel: Yahweh, the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is my eternal name, my name to remember for all generations. [Exodus 3:14-15]

  • God is the creator of heaven and earth.
  • God is the creator of human beings, animals, and all living things.

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him [Colossians 1:15-16]

  • God is a living breathing God.
  • God is not dead and buried.
  • God is not a statue or a physical idol.

So he is the God of the living, not the dead. You have made a serious error. [Mark 12:27]

  • God is our Father.
  • No other god calls himself father.

See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. [1 John 3:1]

  • God is omnipresent.

The Lord is watching everywhere, keeping his eye on both the evil and the good. [Proverbs 15:3]

  • ONE GOD
  • There is truly only ONE God

I am the Lord; there is no other God. I have equipped you for battle, though you don’t even know me, so all the world from east to west will know there is no other God. [Isaiah 45:5]

  • God is 3 distinct persons in the Godhead.
  • Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. [2 Corinthians 13:14]

  • God is sovereign.
  • God is eternal.
  • God is the beginning.
  • God is the end.
  • God is first.
  • God will be last.
  • God Is the one who is.
  • God is the one who always was.
  • God is the one that will be coming again!

I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end, says the Lord God. I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One. [Revelation 1:8]
