Biblical TeachingsChanges to Make 2024 The Best Year EverPodcast Episode

Set Giving Goals

And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: It is more blessed to give than to receive. [Acts 20:35]

As we continue today with the 15 changes to have the best year ever in 2024, I would love to hear if you have implemented any of these changes and if so have these changes impacted you?

Go to join the community and then you will be given access to our Facebook group where we can communicate!

***PLEASE NOTE: there is always more depth and details on the podcast, the post if just an outline.

Since we are at the halfway point here is a quick review of what changes we have been working on.

  4. Smart Goals
  5. Creating a vision board
  6. Become a diligent student of the bible
  7. Freedom of saying no

Today we are going to talk about setting new giving goals. Well, because most churches don’t teach about finances correctly, and obviously my reading plan in the Word wasn’t sufficient I’m embarrassed to set I’ve never set any giving goals let alone setting new ones – until this year!! 😊 I have plans for everything else, but I didn’t even think of having a giving plan, but I love this idea. These points came from teaching with Ted Shuttlesworth, Jr.

This seems to be a taboo subject to talk about but the Bible I read talks about money in many chapters and books, so therefor there is no reason we won’t be talking about it on this podcast. Anyhoo, this time we are going to talk about giving our money.

***Here is a book I would like to recommend that will change your thinking about money and finances. Financial Overflow: 10 Bible Principles to Unlock Heaven’s Unending Supply – by Jonathan Shuttlesworth.

This book and today’s podcast are to help you shift your mind to the real reason why we even bust our butts working in the first place. Do you realize the entire reason God wants us to work and create wealth is so that we can give!! So, with that in mind, creating giving goals makes so much sense and giving should be like breathing!!!

And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. [Deuteronomy 8:18 NKJV]

Yes, it is biblical to have money and financial wealth. It is the Lord who gives us the ability to create wealth and to have the seeds to sow into others.

GIVE MORE TO GOD THIS YEAR THAN LAST YEAR!

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! [Malachi 3:10]

Giving to God means the tithe, which is always 10% of our income. Every time money comes into our account, ten percent of that amount should automatically go out. This percentage goes to where you are being fed spiritually.

BE MORE OF A BLESSING THIS YEAR THAN LAST YEAR.

Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. [Proverbs 11:24-25]

Make it a goal to give to more people this year than you did the last. I like the idea of having a plan to give. Again, put this on your calendar!

CONTINUE TO MOVE FORWARD IN YOUR GIVING.

Remember this, a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully. [2 Corinthians 9:6-7]

Our goal should always be to increase our giving, each month and every year. By having a plan, we will know where we started and how we can increase.

SOWING AND REAPING, WHEN YOU GIVE GOD WILL BLESS YOU.

Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants. Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted! Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand. [Matthew 13:7-9]

This scripture is about sowing the Word into people, but it also applies to finances. Finances are seeds and if they are sown with the right motive and in the right place they will produce a crop of thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times what was sown. It’s important where you sow your seed and the harvest that will come up.

YOU CAN NEVER OUT GIVE GOD.

Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine. [Proverbs 3:9-10]

God’s economy is not like the world’s economy. When we sow seeds -which is the money God gave us the ability to create, into the kingdom of God, then He WILL fill our barns with grain and our vats will overflow. Because that is the law of sowing and reaping. Sowing and reaping is God’s economy.

GOD GIVES SEED TO THE SOWER!! GOD WILL PUT SEED INTO YOUR HANDS IF YOU ARE SOWING.

For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. [2 Corinthians 9:10]

We need to have a job, a business, or something that God can use to provide the seed and the increase. We can’t stand on the Word expecting an increase while we are sitting on our couch doing nothing but eating Cheetos and pop tarts.

MAKE A GOAL TO SOW A LARGE SEED THIS YEAR.

Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. [Luke 6:38]

It should always be our goal to give as much as we possibly can. On another podcast, I will cover the 7 different types of giving that every believer should know about. This will help you set up your giving goals even more and allocate money within your budgets.

THE MORE YOU DILIGENTLY SEEK GOD THE MORE GOD WILL REWARD YOU.

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. [Matthew 6:33]

What God desires more than anything is for us to be in a tight relationship with Him. Look at your finances as a pie chart allocating where the money goes. The giving slice should be the biggest slice of the pie 😊

While Jesus was in the Temple, he watched the rich people dropping their gifts in the collection box. Then a poor widow came by and dropped in two small coins. I tell you the truth, Jesus said, this poor widow has given more than all the rest of them. For they have given a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has. [Luke 21:1-4]
