Focus On Others

Don’t be concerned for your own good but for the good of others. [1 Corinthians 10:24]

We are continuing with the 15 Changes To Make 2024 Your Best Year Ever, which we talk about each Tuesday until we get to the summary!

JESUS + OTHERS + YOU = JOY

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. [Hebrews 10:24-25]

 THINK OF WAYS TO LOVE EACH OTER

  • Motivate one another.
  • Show that we love someone. 5 love languages
  • Good works. a person’s actions or deeds that align with the moral teachings, emphasizing compassion, charity, kindness, and adherence to biblical principles.
  • Do not neglect meeting together. As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. [Proverbs 27:17]
  • Encourage one another.

Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. [Philippians 2:2-5]

MAKE JESUS HAPPY

  • agree wholeheartedly with each other
  • love one another
  • working together with one mind and purpose.
  • Don’t be selfish.
  • Don’t try to impress others.
  • Be humble.
  • Don’t think you are better than others.
  • Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
  • You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.  When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality. [Romans 12:9-10, 13]

DON’T JUST PRETEND TO LOVE OTHERS.

  • Really love them.
  • Hate what is wrong.
  • Hold tightly to what is good.
  • Love each other with genuine affection.
  • Take delight in honoring each other.
  • When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them.
  • Always be eager to practice hospitality.

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. [Colossians 3:12-15]

SINCE GOD CHOSE YOU TO BE THE HOLY PEOPLE HE LOVES, YOU MUST:

  • Clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy.
  • Clothe yourselves with kindness.
  • Clothe yourselves with humility.
  • Clothe yourselves with gentleness.
  • Clothe yourselves with patience.
  • Make allowance for each other’s faults.
  • Forgive anyone who offends you.
  • Remember, the Lord forgave you.
  • Forgive others.
  • Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.
  • Let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts.
  • For as members of one body you are called to live in peace.
  • And always be thankful.

I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.  There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. This is my command: Love each other. [John 15:11-13, 17]

I HAVE TOLD YOU THESE THINGS SO

  • that you will be filled with my joy.
  • Yes, your joy will overflow!
  • This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.
  • There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
  • This is my command: Love each other.
