Sacred Seeds

One day Jesus told a story in the form of a parable to a large crowd that had gathered from many towns to hear him: A farmer went out to plant his seed. As he scattered it across his field, some seed fell on a footpath, where it was stepped on, and the birds ate it. Other seed fell among rocks. It began to grow, but the plant soon wilted and died for lack of moisture. Other seed fell among thorns that grew up with it and choked out the tender plants. Still other seed fell on fertile soil. This seed grew and produced a crop that was a hundred times as much as had been planted! When he had said this, he called out, anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand. [Luke 8:4-8].

QUOTE: Words are seeds that do more than blow around; they land in our hearts and not on the ground. Be careful what you plant and be careful what you say. You might have to eat what you planted one day (Motivational Words of Wisdom).

Let’s take a break from our hike and put on our gardening clothes because we are going to sow some seeds!

The Parable of the Sower, this week’s main scripture, is such a powerful illustration. A parable by the way is a simple story used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson. This parable is also the intention of this book: for us to learn how to take what God says (His Word is the seed) and plant those sacred seeds into our subconscious mind to produce Stellar Thinking!

Verse 8:5 like the farmer we need to take what we are thinking about seriously. We can’t simply scatter a few seeds of positive thinking once a year and have a Christian bumper sticker. We need to believe and sow sacred seeds of WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT YOU. If not sown, then those flimsy positive thoughts scattered around will be eaten by the birds, blown away when biscuits fly, and trampled by the enemy.

Verse 8:6 talks about people on rocky ground, those who receive the word of God with joy and are excited when they hear it, but it does not take root. They believe for a while, but in the times of testing, they fall away. If we have not taken hold of WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT US before the biscuits hit the fan, then as the parable says, there is no root or relationship with God. We will fall away. Sadly, we all know someone who is mad at God, bitter or cynical, or who has even walked away from God completely, because something didn’t go the way they thought it should.

Remember my quote: “It’s what we think about ourselves and what we believe about ourselves that will cause us to either take our life or create life when all biscuits are flying”.

We have all been there: dreams haven’t come true, relationships have been broken, and lives have been shattered by life-altering circumstances beyond our control. What do we do during these times of testing? What do we think about ourselves, and what types of seeds are we sowing when biscuits are hitting the fan?

Verse 8:7 tells us to be careful what you plant. If we want to produce mint, rosemary, and thyme, then those are the seeds we would choose to put into the soil instead of planting cucumber, carrot, or bean seeds. If we want to produce great things in our lives then we need to choose to eliminate and not sow seeds of confusion, anxiety, fear, and limiting beliefs. We must choose to plant seeds of abundance, joy, gratitude, visions, goals, dreams, and stellar thoughts. We will reap whatever we sow in our mind, just like the seeds in the soil. Remember the soil doesn’t care what seed we plant. It will produce exactly what is sown.

Verse 8:8a we learn that EVERY SINGLE thought is a precious and sacred seed that we should faithfully guard and protect.

SACRED SEEDS: I don’t know about you, but I want to be the one that’s in this part of the parable. I want to be the one who plants seeds in good soil, stands for those with a noble and good heart, one who hears the word and retains it, and the one that perseveres by producing a one-hundred-fold bountiful crop.

FRIENDLY REMINDER: take out your journal and write down your thoughts, takeaways, and progress for this week!

TAKEAWAY SEEDS

  • You WILL become what you think about, think about what you are thinking about.
  • Stop thinking about what you fear.
  • Anytime a fearful or negative thought comes into your mind, replace it with a stellar thinking statement or scripture.
  • You will feel like giving up at times because it’s easier to think negatively than positively, keep doing this on a daily basis until it becomes a habit, and then continue to do it next month.
  • Remember if you sow negative thoughts, your life will be filled with negative things.
  • If you sow positive thoughts, your life will produce a more positive crop.
  • Take one hundred percent control of your thoughts; for hundred-fold results.

QUESTIONS TO “THINK ON”

  1. What are the thought seeds that you are currently planting?
  2. What is the harvest of some of the seeds you previously planted?
  3. What types of seeds will you consciously sow as of today?

ACTION STEP
SOW SEEDS: Plant some symbolic seeds. Get a packet of seeds for something easy to grow indoors, like an herb. Sow this seed into good soil and make this plant a reminder to sow Stellar Thinking and have thoughts that You Are Who God Says You Are.

WEEKLY SCRIPTURES

DAY 1: For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. [2 Corinthians 9:10]

DAY 2:  Don’t be misled, you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. [Galatians 6:7]

DAY 3: The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it. [Isaiah 55:10-11]

DAY 4: One day Jesus told a story in the form of a parable to a large crowd that had gathered from many towns to hear him: A farmer went out to plant his seed. As he scattered it across his field, some seed fell on a footpath, where it was stepped on, and the birds ate it. [Luke 8:4-5]

DAY 5: Other seed fell among rocks. It began to grow, but the plant soon wilted and died for lack of moisture. [Luke 8:6]

DAY 6: Other seed fell among thorns that grew up with it and choked out the tender plants [Luke 8:7]

DAY 7:  Still other seed fell on fertile soil. This seed grew and produced a crop that was a hundred times as much as had been planted! When he had said this, he called out, anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand. [Luke 8:8]
