Speak to Your Mountains About God

1 John 4:4 But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the Spirit who lives in the world.

In this message we will learn:

  • the authority and power that we have been given
  • why this authority is important
  • what we can use the authority and power for
  • how to use that authority.

This has really been an important message for me, as unfortunately, I’ve allowed the enemy to steal and oppress me for way too long after a huge disappointment and discouragement in my life; and I’ve allowed him to halt me in my tracks, doubt my abilities, and lose hope at times. That is exactly where he wants us – is immobilized. I say, no more devil, you have already been defeated and you are under my feet.

It’s my goal today that this message will help you take hold of the authority and power that we have been given. I hope that you will keep seeking what this means for you personally in your life. My prayer is that you will recognize when there is a place where the enemy could sneak in, and if and when he does worm his way in you know how to kick the devil in the teeth every single time that he comes knocking; with the authority that we have been given.

Be aware that fear is one of the biggest tools the enemy uses, to have you doubt the Word and not operate in authority.

There are one of 2 things we can do when a crisis comes

1. Be caught off guard and react in fear

2. Act in authority and power because we have practiced and prepared in season and out of season.

There are four things that we must have in place before we can use this authority effectively.

1.   Know and understand the great LOVE that God has for you (which to most of us is so beyond our comprehension)

1 John 4:9-10 God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

2.   Believe every promise we see in the Word is ours/mine.

2 Peter 1:4 And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires

3.   Make sure that we have our relationship with the Lord as our number one priority, which means we are in the word daily (doing our own study – Holy Appointment), have intentional prayer time, and everything we do and say is led by the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 6:33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

4.   We need to believe that the Word of God is TRUE and that we live our lives according to the WORD

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

Psalm 91 says we are to be living in the shelter of the most high, where the authority and power comes from…

Authority: the power or right to give orders, make decisions, and enforce obedience.

Matthew 10:1, 8 Jesus called his twelve disciples together and gave them authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of disease and illness.  Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!

Power: the ability to do something or act in a particular way

Ephesians 1:19-20 I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.

WHAT WE DON’T HAVE AUTHORITY OVER

  • Somebody else’s will – we do not have authority over anyone’s will but our own; we can choose to do it right by living according to the word or not…
  • We don’t have authority to use our own free will to act outside of God’s will

WHAT WE DO HAVE AUTHORITY OVER 5 Ss (Satan, Sin, Sickness, Self, Situations)

SATAN: we are to rule over satan, not have him rule over us or take over our lives

Luke 10:18-19 Yes,” he told them, I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.

James 4:7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

SIN: You can say no when tempted to sin, this is the work of the enemy

1 John 3:8-9 But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil. Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God.

Romans 8:1-2 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.

SICKNESS & DISEASE are the result of sin in the world and Jesus took this upon himself for us on the cross

Isaiah 53:5-6 But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.

1st Peter 2:24 He personally carried our sin in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds, you are healed.

SELF: we need to operate according to the word with our time, money, habits, attitude, physical body, emotions and moods, our mind, thoughts, will, flesh nature, material desires, sexual drive, and choices.

Proverbs 25:28 A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls.

2 Timothy 1:6-7 This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity but of power, love, and self-discipline.

SITUATIONS: storms, natural disasters, oppression, all elements,

Colossians 1:12-13 He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light.  For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son

Mark 11:23-24 I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea, and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.

We have been given the authority for everything on this earth, above this earth, and under this earth… not through ourselves but through the power of the Holy Spirit that is inside of us.

Matthew 28:18-19 Jesus came and told his disciples, I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

This authority is our spiritual power weapon to fight anything that is NOT of God. If it’s not God it’s of the enemy and these things must bow or leave when we exercise our authority….

Ephesians 6:12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

Our WORDS and speaking the WORD is how we release OUR authority.

  • We have to be honest and not misrepresent anything that we say and operate with integrity and speak ONLY what the Word of God says.
  • We have the authority to speak to anything or any circumstance in our life and command it to go in Jesus’ name.
  • Most people are waiting on God to do things when He has given us the authority and responsibility to do it.
  • Speak faith-filled words to our mountains or anything that comes against us that is NOT of God.
  • We have to believe what we say will come to pass – this is a lifestyle change
  • We have to train ourselves to do this it doesn’t automatically happen.

This is a day-by-day process, it takes practice, and sometimes it is a moment-by-moment process. We have to take all our thoughts captive.

We alone don’t have the power; the power comes from our position in the Lord. Our authority is backed by God’s power. The Holy Spirit directs us on how to use our authority, based on our total reliance on and relationship with God Almighty.

My prayer is that you will use your authority using the Word over Satan, Sin, Sickness, Self, and Situations; basically anything that is against God, so that you will live the life God has called you to live.

Hebrews 4:12-13 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.
