God Given Vision

Where there is no vision, the people perish [Proverbs 29:18a KJV]

QUOTE: The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision (Helen Keller).

Are you stuck in your current situation, or have you had things happen that are keeping you stuck? When I say stuck, I’m referring to doing the same thing day in and day out, with no clear goal or focus. You don’t have a specific direction, and you are aimlessly going through each day, week, month, and year. You have no real meaning or purpose in your life, so everything is drudgery and drama. If left unchecked, your life could become a sad, vicious cycle of wasted time, talents, abilities, and gifts. It could, unfortunately, be a life of no significance, because you have not set goals or tapped into what God created you to do.

This is a huge dilemma that is running amuck in our society and has always been something that bothers me to the core of my being. It saddens me when people say they don’t have goals or any idea what God wants them to do, or at least a clear idea, or even worse they don’t care. It not only saddens me, but it’s also a tragedy, because God says a person without vision will perish. Perish, means to die, my friend. This person without vision may not physically die but they will be dead inside, without hope or meaning. Look at how many people are literally just going through the motions of life and can sadly be considered the walking dead. But not you sister!!!

Sometimes people forget to set goals or simply do not set them because of past let downs or failures. Statistics show that 92% of people that set goals don’t reach them. That’s a staggering number, and no wonder people decide not to set goals. I personally believe that statistic may possibly be inaccurate. I say this because some people may be setting the wrong goals for the wrong reasons. They possibly set goals based on what others think they should be doing; they set goals because it is a new trend on social media; they set goals because our society has told them to; they set goals simply because it’s a new year, but with no intention or meaning behind these goals. When setting goals based on the wrong reasons, those goals are never going to be met.

Before we can set the right goals, we need to have a bigger picture of where we are going, and a bigger purpose behind the goals. When I say bigger picture, I mean you need to have something else…

  • Something that is so powerful that setting those goals becomes energizing and easy.
  • Something that will give you strength to do the goals regardless of the setbacks, roadblocks, and flying biscuits.
  • Something that is a pulling, guiding force that keeps you on course.
  • Something that makes you emotional every time you think about it.
  • Something that you are very connected to in every ounce of your being.

THIS SOMETHING IS A VISION, A GOD-GIVEN VISION. We all have hopes and dreams, but….

  • A God-Given Vision is ordained and planned by God before we even existed.
  • A God-Given Vision is supernatural; it’s not something we could have thought up on our own.
  • God-Given Vision is something that will impact many people in a positive way and God will be glorified.
  • God-Given Vision is something that can only be done with God’s provision of resources, ideas, creativity, and direction.
  • God-Given Vision is a specific assignment that God has given to one person that He will work through that person to be accomplished.
  • God-Given Vision is something that will challenge the individual to the point he or she may try to run from that vision.
  • God-Given Vision is sometimes so scary that you may even try to run from God.
  • God-Given Vision is so powerful that it will keep you up at night and make you get up early morning.
  • God-Given Vision will give you the stamina, perseverance and strength to press through and keep going regardless of the biscuits being thrown at you.
  • God-Given Vision is a roadmap which your purpose and goals follow.
  • God-Given Vision will make you emotional, out of the box, and seem very strange to everyone around you!
  • God-Given Vision is inside every cell and ounce of your being and will be with you until the day you leave this earth.

Can you imagine what this world would be like if every single spirit filled women was living out her God-Given Vision? It would be as close to heaven on earth as we could possibly get. Holy smokes, the devil has wreaked so much havoc with people’s minds, possibly even yours to the point where YOU don’t believe you have significance, purpose, or meaning.

GOD-GIVEN VISION: God created each of us with unique gifts and talents. His desire is that each person will use what He provided them and take hold of the vision He has given! Believe that YOU ARE WHO GOD SAYS YOU ARE. Take that vision and run with it and give it everything you’ve got; and when you’ve given everything you’ve got, keep on giving with everything God’s given you!!!

QUESTIONS TO THINK ON

  1. What is your God-Given Vision?
  2. How do you know it’s a God-Given Vision?
  3. What Scriptures support your God-Given Vision?

ACTION STEP: WRITE YOUR GOD-GIVEN VISION: Write down your God-Given Vision. Remember, do not compare your vision with what someone else may be doing. You were created for a specific reason and your God-Given Vision will be unique and NOT like anyone else’s. Share your vision ONLY with people you trust. While writing this be in prayer that this is in line with God’s plan for your life and with Scriptures.  If you would like some assistance, please reach out to me at think@cathyfraser.com.

 DAILY SCRIPTURES

DAY 1: So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away. [2 Peter 1:10]

DAY 2: Indeed, the Sovereign Lord never does anything until he reveals his plans to his servants the prophets. [Amos 3:7]

DAY 3: Then the Lord said to me, write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others. This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed. [Habakkuk 2:2-3]

DAY 4:  No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,  I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. [Philippians 3:13-14]

DAY 5: When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful. [Proverbs 29:18]

DAY 6: You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. [Psalm 23:5-6]

DAY 7: In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly. [Romans 12:6-8]
